Syfte
The study investigates the attitudes of Norwegian kindergarten teachers towards the first aid programme and the training resource Henry and its influence on three- to six-year-olds’ understanding of first aid. The research questions are: 1. What are Norwegian kindergarten teachers' attitudes to the use of the first aid resource in their kindergartens? 2. Does the use of the Henry training resource influence children's first aid knowledge?
Resultat
The results showed a strong enthusiasm among kindergarten teachers regarding the use of Henry. Children's understanding of first aid was increased in the interviews after using Henry, compared to the interviews before Henry was used.
Design
588 kindergarten employees responded to an online survey. In addition, 50 children (26 boys and 24 girls) participated in semi-structured interviews that measured their knowledge about first aid before and after Henry was used. These children's knowledge of first aid was compared with that of 46 children who had used Henry over a long period of time.
