Purpose
This report is the first report of a three-year evaluation process of the application pool for better quality at daycare centres. In 2007, the two overall objectives of the evaluation were: 1) identifying the total pool of approved projects within the four pool themes on the basis of project applications, including identification of the projects' scientific hypotheses about how the quality of daycare centres can be improved and identification of the common features of the project’s academic hypotheses; 2) establishment of an evaluation basis for the subsequent years, including establishing common criteria for case evaluation of 21 selected projects in the pool.
Result
Identification of which academic hypotheses and project ideas have been on the agenda, and the challenges that were considered important to overcome in the daycare area within the four themes of the pool in a number of Danish municipalities in connection with the introduction of the Daycare Facilities Act in 2007.
Design
The survey was conducted as a descriptive study synthesis and a research synthesis.
Moreover, programme theories for the projects have been listed based on development seminars in cooperation with key persons from the 21 selected projects.
