Purpose
The purpose of this study is to describe students' ability to use IT at school. The study focuses on the expectations of librarians and teachers regarding IT as a learning tool and how computers are used as an IT tool at the school.
Result
The study shows that there is a difference in terms of how IT is used at the two schools that were surveyed. IT was well integrated at one school; at the other IT was only used for games. The study concludes that it is not easy for the teaching staff to use computers as an educational tool for children aged six to eight. Researchers are wondering whether the lack of integration of computers in the teaching practice is based on the fact that the employees were women and therefore less technically minded. The researchers recommend that a comparison is conducted between male and female teachers based on this perspective as a subject for further research.
Design
The study was conducted as a comparative case study design based on observation and focus group interviews with a total of 50 children aged six to eight.
