Purpose
This study examines and describes how physical and social conditions materialise in integrated activities in a pre-school classroom.
Result
The physical environment is flexible. At both schools, the frames are used for educational activities in the morning, while the afternoons are dominated by play activities at one of the schools. The author finds that physical conditions determine the degree of flexibility between learning activities and play activities at each school during the school day.
Design
The study was conducted as a case study design involving observations of two pre-school classes at two different schools where four children were observed more closely than others; a boy and a girl in each class.
