Purpose
This study examines what specific conditions for social interaction are present when children at daycare centres create pictures/drawings.
Result
The study shows that the artistic creation of pictures and drawings by children at daycare centres is highly socially influenced. The children are the active party in creating the meaningful structures. These are not present to begin with, but are created through negotiation.
Design
The design of the study is ethnographic. The study is based on observations and interviews with 34 children aged four to six.
