Purpose
The purpose of this study is to collect data on methods to improve hand hygiene among children and staff in kindergartens on the basis of a ‘what works' perspective.
Result
The author concludes that the better the instruction in hand hygiene, the greater the reduction of infections. It is difficult to conclude whether some of the studied interventions are more effective than others and therefore it cannot be concluded that an improvement in hand hygiene is more effective with regard to reducing the number of infections compared with an improvement in other forms of hygiene.
Design
This is a systematic review: a literature study of Danish and international literature on interventions aimed at improving hand hygiene in kindergartens.
