Purpose
The study investigates how children use what they have learned on their own when interacting with kindergarten teachers in digital reading and writing situations in kindergarten. The researcher wants to understand how kindergarten teachers react to and understand children's cultural experiences. The goal is to see how informal knowledge affects formal learning using digital tools.
Result
The results show how kindergarten teachers used cameras to better understand children's world and perspectives. This gave the children the opportunity to express themselves and share their stories in ways the teachers might not have discovered without the cameras. The research also shows that the kindergarten teachers' view of children and cultural interaction became more important in this process.
Design
Four kindergarten teachers and four children (between two and four years old) from a Swedish kindergarten participated in the study. Together with the researcher, the kindergarten teachers designed reading and writing activities using digital tools. The data collection took place through observations, interviews and reflective conversations.
